Triple Image Sundays: The Arteest At Work

This space is usually reserved for single image Sundays/Saturdays, but this week, it’s bonus time with a look both behind the scenes and close-up.

Sometimes, the moment presents itself to you and it’s just your job to step up and be a part of it. Awesome when that happens. Bonus: a behind the scenes view of what goes into a shot like this. Not very glamorous, but interesting, perhaps.

I snapped this image at Reynolda Gardens with the Hipstamatic app, and I’m still amazed at the level of detail the iPhone4 can capture. Bright sunlight and a stationary subject also help to get a crisp result, so as a bonus, here’s a quick look from the full-size version of this image over at Flickr, where I do more mass-uploading than at Instagram. I mention Flickr in a previous post as an alternative social network to Instagram — and I’m there as rsmithing. Feel free to add me as a contact if you’re there too.

    Beautiful! And yes, I’m always sort of “paying attention” to the beauty of the flowers around me…and from there the photo opportunities just happen. :-) I’ll just turn my head and see a flower in a certain light, and that’s all it takes.

      That’s one sure-fire path toward creating cool photos: be surrounded by attractive subjects in the right light! It’s still great when the moment hits and you know you’ve captured something beautiful. Thanks for stopping by!

        Well, beauty is “all in the eye of the beholder”…that’s for sure. I see amazement all the time in the tiniest things, which can be seen by the fact that I love the close-up shots. Other people probably wonder what I’m doing, but to me it is simply beautiful. As an example also, my flower photo that you commented on, I’m really not sure how many people really see the beauty in that flower in that photo…but I do. I’m following your blog now because it looks like you have lots of interest and talent here. :-)

          Thanks very much! I will do my best to keep the content interesting now that you’re following ;) . And don’t let other people concern you: always go for the shot. Speaking of detail, have you ever considered macro photography? I’ve been turned on to a whole world of detail that way – mainly insects (warning: not for bugphobes), to your point of “eye of the beholder.”

            Yes…macro photography, that’s what I go after many times. Just yesterday, I caught the light on the very center of a daisy and took a macro shot and found it all so amazing to see such intricacy. I do take the photos mostly for myself, so it doesn’t matter to me who likes what. Everyone is different and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. It’s always nice to hear something positive, but for me, it’s mostly my own exploration and ability to capture nature’s amazement. I share photos on my blog just to share what I have seen…and maybe someone else will see something beautiful as well. It’s all about reminders of this beautiful world that we live in.

                Thank you for your comment at my blog! I do appreciate it! I’ve always liked the light that plays on flowers and landscapes. It’s always nice to meet other photographers. I’m not a pro at it, but am mostly an artist and designer. Inspiration is always through many things for me! Nice blog you have!

I don’t claim to be a pro photographer at all, since I’m from the world of graphic & web design. But I think it’s all art, and that’s enough for me. As long as we enjoy it, that’s what counts, right? :)
